Othonoi
Arriving at Othonoi the northern most Greek Island we found the only real anchorage crowded and ended up parking outside the bay – Othonoi Ammos. There is a big gulley leading into the bay and we had an unforecast 10g20 wing for the night.
First thing in the morning we all decided to go for a walk around the village except Hew who wanted to do some maintenance on the yacht. Chris, Mark and Jo wandered up the hill and Stu, Jill and myself looked around the twin and commercial port.
On returning to the yacht some of us decided to swim to the next bay around the coast, Aspri Ammos, looking at the caves and grottos on the way. Stu and I managed 3.1km Jo and Chris 1.5k , Mark drove the RIB and Jill and Hew the yacht. Great swim.
We stayed the night in the bay as very sheltered and great views.
Next day we were due to go down the west coast of Corfu but weather blowing 15kts from SW so decided to go to Kassiopi for the night in good shelter. Much bigger town than we expected and huge number of restaurants.
Lovely bay to park in but sewerage smell was very present . Interesting since a big fish farm was just around the corner. The next morning we had a collection of fish just lowing in the shadow of the starboard hull on the surface of the water. Hew though they must have escaped from the fish farm!!
Then we decided better day we would go around the long way and down the west coast of Corfu.
Love Canal in passing.
