Port Louis Marina

The marina is very lush and created like a small village with a bearutiful swiming pool for all to use. There is a marina office, chart office, yacht agents office, shop, restaurant and bar all in the same style.

There are ordinary yachts and super yachts. There are solo sailors and then super yachts with huge numbers of crew. Everyone spends time cleaning, polishing and tidying their boats.

The marina provides wifi, water, power(30amp, 60 amp, 110v or 230v) and sewerage pump out at each berth. There are also showers and toilets which a very clean tidy and beautifully tiled. There is also athe Victory bar and restaurant which has superb iced coffee(very bad for you).

There are always yachts arriving and leaving as it is a clearance port and there are customs and health officials in the marina which makes it ery easy. The last yacht of the Vikings, Meander, arriving a week later and still a welcoming group out.

The Cocktails at Grenada Yacht Club

The evening of the same day we arrived, the Grenada Yacht Club which is on the other side of the harbour to the marina, put on welcome cocktails and a steel band. The cargo docks are seaward of the club as can be seen.The sunset was beautiful. Also it was noticeable in Grenada how many birds there are, and even in a small swamp area next to the yacht club were nesting Egrets. A lovely end to a long day.

Petit Calvigny Yacht Club Day

The next activity on the plan for the Vikiing Exploreres was an invitation to Hobbie Cat races on Sunday at the PCYC. These are a regular event on Sundays as is a local market stall on the green behind the beach. All the Viking group were invited. The wind was very shifty in the bay so the races were a challenge and there were also a few capsizes to the amusement of the locals.

Prize Giving at True Blue Bay Boutique Resort

The Prize Giving was held at True Blue Bay Resort, Dodgy Dock Bar https://www.truebluebay.com/ . It was a beautiful evening full of many laughs as all the crews were awarded their Atlantic crossing certificates and then various other special prizes. Eleuthera and crew won the largest yacht and the yacht bet representing the true Viking Explorers Spirit. Many thanks to Carlota and Oliver https://www.vikingexplorersrally.com/ , and Grenada Tourism https://ghta.org/ for all the time and effort to make it such an enjoyable night. There was dancinig, rum tasting and chocolate tasting later to keep everyone happy.
